Suzu Cafe Ginza

The SUZU signature custard pudding gives a satisfyingly firm resistance when you press in with a spoon—a treat for anyone who likes their pudding set. Coffee is the secret addition to the caramel. Its Vietnamese-style fragrance and deep bitterness bring out the pudding’s gentle sweetness. You can also pair the pudding with cold vanilla ice cream, or order the lavish pudding parfait, for a different balance of sweetness and bittersweet depth.

On the sixth floor of Ginza Trecious (銀座トレシャス), SUZUCAFE ginza is a spacious café furnished with wooden furniture and sofa seating. There is plenty to choose from among the sweets, including the rich burnt caramel cheesecake, made since the café first opened, a richly flavoured matcha Basque cheesecake, a ganache-style chocolate gâteau, and pumpkin cake spiced with cinnamon and walnut. Drinks range from the house blend and cold-brew coffee to a house chai slowly simmered with spices and Assam tea, and Rin original herbal tea, whose flavour features dried fruit.

From lunch and tapas to dinner

This is more than a café stop: one of its attractions is the substantial food prepared by a chef with a French-cuisine background. At lunchtime, there are daily specials, pasta and rice dishes. In the evening, the café shifts into a place to enjoy tapas and meat dishes with wine, beer or cocktails. Settle in with a drink and snacks such as the four-tapas platter or shrimp and broccoli ajillo, or make a fuller meal of roasted Yamagata pork shoulder with dukkah and herbs, or rich risotto with burrata, jamón serrano and truffle oil.

Open continuously through the day until 11 pm, it can suit anything from a break between shopping to dessert or a drink after dinner. The relaxed sofa seating feels just as suited to a long conversation with friends as to a quiet moment enjoying something sweet on your own.
